We had some serious wipe-outs. The best two wipe-outs went to Ryan, who I think actually starting bleeding on his arm, using it to break his fall. And the other best disaster went to Tyler, who fell so fast he didn't have time to break his fall with his hands, or arms, but just felt flat on his face! I laughed so hard, he's truly a good sport because he got up off the ice laughing and carrying on, what a tough little man. I decided that I was going to be a responsible leader, so I initiated a game of tag, which occupied the entire event. I mean, we were flying around corners, weaving in and out of parents with their little kids, slamming into the wall, etc... It was a rush. Usually, everyone knew who was it, because tagging was an abrupt happening. You typically wouldn't sneak up on someone, because everyone on the ice would see you coming (I know because I tried to sneak up on Justin multiple times). So tagging someone was about speed because you had to get away from them since we were playing where you could 'tag back' (tagging the person who just tagged you). The best tag of the night no doubt went to Chloe, who hugged the wall for the first part of the night because she was new at ice skating. But after a while, she got the hang of it and the girl was zoomin around like everyone else. Christopher was running from Patrick thinking that Patrick was it. But really, Chloe was, and she sneaked up on him, and gently touched him on the arm while he was occupied staying clear of Patrick. Christopher turned around and in the most subtle but humorous voice that only Chloe could have, said "Ummmm... Your it.." Priceless..
The best evasion, or get-away went to William. Justin was trying to find someone to pass the role of tagging of to. The ice was crowded, there were alot of families and people. Right there on the corner of the Ice, William saw Justin coming up behind him, so he stopped completely against the wall and pulled his coat up around himself, and just stood there. Justin came around the corner laughing at what he though was some random little kid afraid or something, but as he got halway down the rink, it dawned on him and he turned around to see William taking his coat down smiling. Because skating only flowed counter-clockwise, Justin couldn't turn back for him... Smooth Will... Smooth...
The night ended with me and Wes running from Justin who was no doubt after me. He'd caught up to me, and as we were going around a turn, I thought I'd be smooth and quickly cut back behind him, but he read me. So instead of slowing down and reaching backward to try and tag me, and cut in towards the back of me and speared me into the wall!!! He fell on the ground, and I was wedged up against the plexiglas, stunned that I had just been tackled... I laughed so hard, that guy cracks me up.
The way home was equally humorous as we shared the best "Yo Momma's So Fat" jokes we could muster. It was a fun first trip, and I look forward to the next one.
